Fiona Macleod is a pioneering South African environmental journalist. Prior to founding Oxpeckers, she worked as an award-winning journalist and editor at a range of the region’s top media. She served as environmental editor at the Mail & Guardian newspaper for 10 years, and was awarded the prestigious Nick Steele award recognising her contributions to environmental conservation through her pioneering reportage. She is recipient of the 2014 SAB EnviroMedia Award for her work at Oxpeckers, and winner of the Environment Award at the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards in 2016. She is a member of the Earth Journalism Network’s Council of Partners.
